The everyday training and life of a Triathlete

Thursday, October 12, 2006

So my first full week back into training is going well so far, Yesterday morning I went on a 13km flat run with Jutta, we kept the pace moderate and even enough so that we could talk, it’s always nice to have company on long runs!
In the afternoon I went out on my bike for 1:30 focusing on leg turnover and working at a higher cadence than I usually ride, as my legs felt heavy and lactated from the run in the morning.
Today I got up and went straight out on a 30min run, it was rather eventful as I managed to get chased and knocked off my feet by a dog! However the adrenaline afterwards really helped because from then on my run felt really light and smooth.
This evening we did a 5.5km swim, the main set was 800m,400m,200m,100m max sustainable pace with 20 seconds rest inbetween, i worked hard and averaged 1:15 per 100m. The rest of the session was kick, drills and pull of varying distances and then we did a huge swim down!

I came across this quote today and I love it: “Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever" ..... Lance Armstrong
