XC Race

Today I had the second round of the County XC championships and loved every minute of it! It was slightly longer this time as it was 6km. The course was fantastic because it was so muddy and I got stung, spiked and wet which is what XC is all about. I lead from the start and the pace was suprisingly comfortable, over the over the first lap (2 laps of 3km) me and a team mate built up a lead of around 20seconds. I pushed harder through the second lap to try and drop her but she stuck with me. We continued to put more and more time into the others. With about 500m to go I picked up the pace into a sprint and crossed the line in 1st place with 2nd place 10seconds behind and the rest of the field over a minute behind. You can see by this very unflattering picture just meters before the finish line that i was giving it my all, you can always tell when im tired beacuse i bring my knees up!

This afternoon I headed to the pool again for more club champs. We only had time for a 700m warm up but that was ok because it was only 50m f/c sprint. I did 30:21 which was a few seconds off my pb so it was disappointing but expected after the XC race.

Congrats on what looks like a quite a difficult run. Very good action shot :D Hope that your training is going well so far - it sounds like you are doing well. Are you doing any races soon? I am hoping to do a race sometime in the new year - am building up to it, trying to get in enough time to swim, ride and not to forget the running....! All seems quite daunting but if little bit at a time, then its probably not so bad.

I am going away on vacation soon, but will try and keep up-to-date with blogging - Internet Cafes are more commmon than normal cafes these days.....! Train hard

P.S. Yes I did get the job! Start in the new year!!!!

Hi Jessica,

Long time reader, First Time commenter. Glad to hear training and Racing are going well. I really enjoy reading about another athlete in this slightly mad sport.

Keep up the good training,
